"I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist since June 2015. After completing the initial 650-hour program at Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy, I continued my education with more than 125 additional hours of medical massage training along with several ancillary therapies throughout more than a decade in the field of massage therapy.
Over the years, I have provided massage therapy in a wide variety of settings including independent massage practices, chiropractic offices, a day program for disabled adults, home visits, spas, wellness centers, salons, franchises, a casino, and retreat centers as both an employee and independent contractor. These experiences gave me a broad perspective on the many ways massage therapy can be practiced and integrated into different environments.
In 2018, I opened my own massage practice in Pennsylvania where I interviewed, trained, mentored, and managed the massage therapists who worked there. After relocating to Missouri in 2022 and establishing a private practice here, I continued overseeing the Pennsylvania location until selling the business in March 2024.
In addition to my clinical work, I now serve as an instructor through my Apprenticeship Training Program, where I pass along the knowledge, clinical reasoning, and professional skills needed to build a successful career in massage therapy. I have already trained one full class of apprentices and am currently teaching my second class of students. Helping others develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive in this profession has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work."

"I'm was a student at Grafted In Wellness. I can honestly say this apprenticeship has been amazing. Marissa is extremely knowledgeable and I love her hands on approach to teaching. She makes learning fun. She goes the extra mile and takes the time to make sure we understand the various techniques and concepts we are learning. She is very committed to our success and making sure we become skilled massage therapists."

"I was a student in Grafted In Wellness's apprenticeship program, class of 2024. The experience was very good, I highly recommend. Marissa loved what she was teaching with "nerdy" excitement, which was nice and refreshing! I learned a lot and the class structure/syllabus was built and carried out well. Marissa was kind and wanted to see you succeed, and would go out of her way to help."

"Marissa Spencer, as an owner, massage therapist and now educator excels in it all. 5 stars + on all counts! Her skill, style and warmth shine through it all. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a student massage at her clinic close to their graduation date. One thing that really stood out was that the student certainly knew more about musculature than many MTs out there. There was detail and flow that obviously an excellent teacher passed on to her student. Most schools teach robotic, repetitive scripts and the schools are so large that students lack the one2one care necessary to flourish into becoming their best. Highly recommend in every way!"
